Frequency Shadows

Project Description

Be ready to watch shadow projections of different frequencies and shapes. People walking in the room interactively change the pitch of the frequencies. A Kinect with a program takes different inputs to track the motions of the audience. It is composed of a speaker connected to an amplifier and a laptop. The vibrations of the speaker move a rod that holds a transparent flat surface. By putting sand on top of it, shapes start to form in the sand. Adding a spotlight underneath and using mirrors produces special effects projected onto the ceiling and elsewhere.
