Artist Statement

In the omnipresent digital age, the pixel has become part of the body. Matthew creates works to examine this digitization of human experience, and how it affects identity, nature, and history. It reflects his cynical yet curious nature. He produce images, sounds and videos, passive and real-time. He is inspired by computer glitches, post-apocalyptic fiction, and cyberpunk, which uniquely reflect the technological mindset. His computer as not only a tool, but also a collaborator and viewer. A work is not finished until a series of changes has caught the artist off guard or surprised him in profound ways.
