Siège Fondue

Alan MacDonald
Project Description

This project required the melding of two old broken objects, a fondue set and a broken Thonet chair, into a new object. After considering the links between the objects, it became clear that the most exciting avenue to pursue was the application of heat to change material properties. With this as the core concept, iterations of melting the seating began to develop, with special interest in asymmetry and imperfection as well as the flowing shapes created by melting cheese and chocolate.
